Governance
There are two boards that have jurisdiction over the Mark Twain Museums properties. The Mark Twain Home Foundation is a not-for-profit Foundation which leases the boyhood home from the City of Hannibal. It also oversees properties owned by the Foundation.

The city-owned Mark Twain properties (The Boyhood Home, Museum Gift Shop, Garden, and Tom and Huck Statue) are leased to the Mark Twain Home Foundation. The lease is administered by the Mark Twain Home Board. The Home Board is appointed by the City of Hannibal. The Mark Twain Home Foundation then manages the daily operation of all the museum properties.
