Celebrate Mark Twain’s Birthday with The Man Himself!
Sam Clemens returned to Hannibal several times. On those occasions, he would fondly remember his Hannibal days. Join Mr. Clemens on November 30 to celebrate his birthday and tour his Boyhood Home and other historic properties. Filled with anecdotes, stories, and remembrances, this tour is sure to entertain. Mr. Clemens has also reluctantly agreed to accept Birthday gifts. He wishes to remind the public that he avidly collects gold dust and silver nuggets.
Space is limited on this tour so we recommend booking early. If space fills up and there is enough interest, we may be able to provide another tour. Please call 573-221-9010 extension 403 if you have any questions. Please note this tour will include going up and down stairs so portions may be difficult for those with mobility issues.
A Chance to Meet a Literary Legend
This new museum tour experience will let you listen to Twain’s stories directly from the man himself. Learn about his days in Hannibal and how that shaped his future writings. This is your chance to speak directly with one of America’s most distinguished authors and get all your questions answered.
Presented by Actor Richard Garey
Richard Garey has been performing his one man show, Mark Twain Himself, for over 50 years. He recreates the lectures the lectures Twain became famous for using purely the authors own words. Over the years he’s built up a repertoire of about nine hours of material so no two shows are exactly the same.
While You’re in Town…
November 30th is Mark Twain’s 189th birthday! This year it also coincides with Small Business Saturday so it’s the perfect day to visit Downtown Hannibal. There will be events and sales all down Main Street. Also be sure to stop back by the Museum at dusk to witness our Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Mr. Twain will be making another appearance then as well.
