July 21 @ 9:00 am - August 1 @ 5:00 pm
The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum and the Hannibal Free Public Library are partnering to create a one-of-a-kind book club experience – a “blind date” with a book! The Mark Twain Boyhood Home’s book club meets every other month, and for the summer is doing something different.
The “Blind Date with a Book” is a fun way to discover new reads. Books will be wrapped in paper, concealing the title and author, and given a short, intriguing description to pique interest. Participants can come to the museum or the library and choose a wrapped book based on the description. They will then have until September to unwrap and read their “blind date.” It’s a chance to step outside of one’s usual reading preferences and discover unexpected literary loves.
Starting July 21st and ending August 1st, a person can pick up a “blind date book” at either the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum or the Hannibal Free Public Library.
Anyone who would like to participate simply grabs a book. September 16th at 5:30 pm, people that chose and read a book can enjoy a book discussion about their “blind date”. Will they be seeing this author again? Did they “ghost” their book before the end? Tables and snacks will be set up for participants to chat about their books in the Mark Twain Museum Gallery Auditorium.
This twist on the Mark Twain Museum’s book club promises everyone plenty of time to enjoy their blind date book over the summer and talk books in September! Don’t miss this opportunity to explore something new, talk books with fellow bibliophiles, and have some summer fun!
